Wanted Dead or Alive

I love that song by Bon Jovi. It's one of the songs I downloaded today for my 9.3mi run. I've been listening to the same play list for weeks and I felt it was time for a new one. I needed one to get me through my run today. I haven't run over 6mi in weeks. I wasn't sure how I would do. Honestly I felt great after my run. I had a few times when I wasn't sure If I was going to make the entire run. Then I found a new spurt of energy and was off again.

I had the day off today, and since I couldn't run on Sunday due to a wonderful headache I decided today was the day for my last long run before Gasparilla. I could do a run on Sunday, but I am scared of running to much in one week and then end up being injured for the race next weekend. So I think for the rest of the week and next week i'll keep it under 6mi runs.

It didn't last my whole run. I think I got to the 2nd song again. I thought it was longer then it was. Guess I need to add a few more songs..

This afternoon I went to Fit Niche http://216.134.214.58/ with my sister so she could get fitted for some running shoes. I saw some Nike Lunarglides that I would L-O-V-E to have... I tried them on, ran in them.... they are to wide for my feet . =(   I can't find a picture of them. But they were dark grey with hot pink bottoms. Ohh the cuteness. Oh well. I really don't "need" new shoes right now..

I am soo excited for Gasparilla!

YAYY so exciting! I got that e-mail yesterday! I've never run in a big race like this before! Only small local races. Very very excited!

I am worried though. My sister is supposed to be running the 15k as well, but she hurt her hip sometime last week. She is taking this week off, and hopefully will start back slowly next week...and HOPEFULLLLYYYYYY run Gasparilla!

Today I had a good run, 3mi.  I didn't want to do anything to long because I haven't run or done much of anything since last Thursday. I did a little cross training last night, but nothing to brag about. Tomorrow I have a long run planned. I'm really really hoping for 9mi... I have to run around the lake tomorrow, so i'm not sure how that is going to go, that is alot of laps around the lake.. not as many laps as you ladies that are running around a track at the gym. props to ya'll, that sucks.

I am sort of getting nervous about my Half-Marathon on March 21st. My longest run to date is 10mi, and that was quite a few weeks ago. I'm just getting nervous that I won't have enough time to build up my mileage, and be comfortable enough. I'm already registered, and paid, so I'm obviously going to do it, i'm just going to have to train hard, and be confident!

Breakfast: honey bunches of oats w/ 1% milk
Lunch: left over shepherds pie
Dinner: honey bunches of oats again.. I'm on a serious cereal kick. I didn't make dinner, so Chris had leftovers.

oh wal-mart. I hate you.

I think I am a freak of nature because I actually do not mind grocery shopping. I enjoy going through cook books, or cooking blogs and finding new recipes. I enjoy going through the aisles of food, and finding whatever miscellaneous ingredients I am looking for.

Today was an exception. Today sucked. I always do my shopping on Sundays, its the day I have the most time. I hate going to the grocery store after work for more then 1 or 2 things. I generally go to Wal-mart for most of my things, and I go to Publix for beef.. I can't buy beef from Wal-mart. I don't know why, but it freaks me out.

So I went to wal-mart today & so did everyone else in this county. Ugh. The actual shopping part wasn't that bad, but the standing in line to check out was ridiculous. I stood in like for 40 minutes. Uhm what?! 40 minutes! Ridiculous!

I went to Winn Dixie to get cereal..that is a whole other story in it self. They had Post, Honey Bunches of Oats, buy one get one free. I can't buy cereal if I can't get it BOGO. It is stupid to me to pay $4 a box , and it's the little boxes. I feel much better if I can get 4 boxes for the price of 2... and apparently I really like cereal because we've gone through a lot in the last 2 or 3 weeks. Thankfully Publix has BOGO every week and so does Winn Dixie... I don't buy the sugary kids cereal, I like Special K, or Honey Bunches of Oats.

Then I went to Publix to buy Potatoes, Bananas & Apples. .. Wal-marts potatoes are always half rotten when I buy them, and they are over priced so I don't like to buy them from there. Publix usually has good potatoes. Wal-mart also never has ripe Bananas, they are almost always all the way green, gross. I like my bananas almost brown, mm. Publix has had riper bananas lately.

Wal-mart makes me want to kill someone, it makes me so aggravated, but it's cheaper for most of the things I need. But today just made me wonder if going to wal-mart is worth the aggravation. I went to Publix and didn't even wait in line. .. I am really trying to be more budget conscious and shopping at Wal-mart is one of the ways I can save money, but OMG the aggravation is horrible.

Today has been completely ridiculous for Health & Fitness. I woke up at 7:45 with a horrid headache. I got up, ate breakfast, and then laid back on the couch. I thought maybe it was because I hadn't had any coffee yet. .. So Chris made me some coffee. I couldn't even drink it, it made me nauseous. I laid back on the couch and went to sleep for a few hours. Woke up, still had a headache. So I've mostly laid on the couch all day. I finally got off the couch, and I've been snacking ever since. Eck. Horrible. . I had a 9mi run planned today, but I just don't think I could have done it. I plan on hopefully doing some circuit training in a little bit.

I want...

my blonde  hair back. I really miss it, and last night Chris said he thinks I should go back to blonde for the summer. I keep seeing all these girls with beautiful blonde hair, and I' ridiculously jealous. Hah! I guess I will be talking to my hairdresser to find out how we can go about getting my hair back to a shade of blonde. I think it's going to be a long process since my hair is pretty dark right now. See:

But I want to go back to this:
Sorry for the kissing pic... but that is really a good picture of how blonde my hair was before I went dark.. and yes, i realize I have the same swim suit cover on in both pics, and no the pics were not on the same day. The first one where we are inside is about 4am and we are getting ready to go out on a fishing charter. The second one is about 2 mths after we got married, we had to cancel our original honeymoon plans, so instead of Costa Rica, we went camping for the wknd- fun =)    .... ps. we rent. we did not  put up that crazy pink striped wall paper!

I really have nothing Health related. I worked 830a-7p today. I came home and pretty much crashed on the couch. We were so busy at work today.

Breakfast: special K with 1% milk.
Lunch: left over chicken & dry special K.. lol
Dinner:.... yet more Special K. 2 bowls. that crap is good!
Snacks: seriously? I didn't have time for snacks today. I didn't eat lunch until 2pm... my usual lunch time is 11:30.. uh i was STARVING. .. i didn't get a snack either.. i barely had time to drink some freakin' water. I think I only drank 2 bottles of water today & half of a lo-carb monster (lol, shame on me for the Monster, but seriously, we were swamped today).

I am really hoping to go for a run in the morning. I plan on doing my long run on Sunday.... 9 miles maybe.

15 days till Gasprilla.

Today I am feeling depressed. I'm not going to go into details. I know there is light at the tunnel, but I don't feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm struggling. But anyways....

I love my puppies!

In health & fitness related news. I need some xanax. just kidding. but I really do.

Today I got off at 2pm, yes! I was going to run right after work at the lake BUT i forgot my shoes at home, right by the front door. Doh! I decided to try out a new running spot. It's actually not for running, it's an undeveloped shopping center. Part of it is developed, but there are quite a few roads that have nothing on them. I took full advantage and ran all over that place. It was a really great run, I was able to run in the road, and not have to watch the side walk the whole run-which drives me crazy. I completed 6mi in 56:56. I was very happy with that time! I was shooting for 6mi in less then an hour, and I beat it, yay! I had no knee pain, which also makes me very happy!

Breakfast: special K w/ 1% milk
Lunch: peanut butter & honey sandwich. lol.
Dinner: red beans & rice w/ turkey sausage. delish.
Snacks: Chobani peach yogurt & pretzels.

Friday is a rest day. I work 830a-7p.. Maybe some upper body when I get home.

Rest.

Today is a rest day. I had to work late so I chose to take today as a rest day, I also close on Friday, so I guess that will be a rest day to. Tomorrow I get off at 2pm so I plan on getting in a good run and some kind of work out when I get home.

I found a circuit workout online at fitnessmagazine.com it goes like this:

Upper Body

15-20 Push-Ups
15-20 Standing Rows
15-20 Overhead press with dumb bells
15-20 Pull overs with dumb bells

Lower Body

8-10 alternating forward lunges
15-20 dumb bell squats
15-20 rotation lunges
15-20 dead lifts

Core Exercises:

8-10 crab walks
30 sec Prone Plank
8-10 Cobras
15-20 Opposite Arm & Leg Raise.

What do you think? I am trying to incorporate some other exercises into my running. Like I posted yesterday I need to work on my hip strength. Tonight I did some push ups, and leg lifts from a standing position.

Breakfast: blueberry special K w/ 1% milk
Lunch: left over chicken & a hawaiian breeze smoothie from tropical smoothie
Snacks: string cheese, pretzels & bananas
Dinner: Special K cereal w/ 1% milk (lol, Chris is out w/ a friend for his friend's b-day, and it was leftover night anyways).

Good night.

Focusing on my hips.

I picked up the new issue of Fitness, http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/. I was kind of scared that it would be kind of hoakey and suggest all sorts of crazy detox/cleanses & have silly articles. I am pleasantly surprised with the content..well I haven't read the whole thing yet, but I'm a good ways through it.

I have heard and read a lot about that fact that weak hips can cause knee injuries, which can lead to other injuries. Fitness has an article regarding this exact issue. I can't find the article on the magazine website, but it's called Double Jeopardy  They suggest this site http://www.runninginjuryclinic.com/ to find some hip strengthening exercises. Very informative article. I am encouraged to work on my hip strength, especially with the knee pain that I have been having lately.

Today I ran 3mi , 29:48.  No knee pain. My shins were killing me for about a mile, the pain eventually went away. The whole time they were hurting I was thinking, great, I hope I don't have shin splints. That article Double Jeopardy kind of made me paranoid. I obviously don't want to injure myself, and I really don't want to injure myself because I didn't take care of a previous injury. I also did 2 sets of 20 push ups right after my run. I came home and did side leg lifts 3 sets of 15 ; cancan cross (exercise I saw in fitness magazine) 2 sets of 10; bridge leg lift 1 set of 15 (this one hurt my right hamstring, its feeling kind of tight).

Breakfast: Blueberry Special K with 1% milk

Lunch: left over spaghetti

Snacks: pretzels, Chobani pomegranate greek yogurt (FAIL, ew I don't like pomegranate apparently), banana, string cheese...

Dinner: Crunchy Ranch Chicken, Yum!

Crunchy Ranch Chicken

4-5 chicken breast
1 envelope Hidden Valley Ranch powder
1 cup Parmesan cheese
1 cup of corn flakes crushed ( I used Special K...its what I had)
1 egg

Preheat over to 350*

1. Mix Hidden valley ranch powder, Parmesan cheese, and corn flakes in a bowl
2. Cover a baking pan with aluminum foil, spray lightly with cooking spray
3. cover chicken in egg then cover chicken with the corn flake mixture
4. place chicken on covered baking pan

Cook for 30-35 minutes.

This was delish! Had a really great flavor!
